The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was where I had my most memorable time in my life. I couldn't learn enough couldn't do enough couldn't work hard enough. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Burrell gained a greater appreciation of Italian culinary and cultural traditions throughout her time in Italy that has informed her cooking style. Burrell has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that brightens the lives of children facing challenges. She is also a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador, where she promotes juvenile diabetes awareness. Burrell is often a guest speaker at conferences and travels the country to mentor others in her role. Anne declared that she felt fortunate to be able to communicate her love of cooking to the people around her.
